Artist's Comments

My favourite photograph taken when the F-111 was practising for an air show down south. I could feel the heat from the dump and burn. Wow.

Hi, yes the F111 always had some specific elegance.

Can you help me out with some aviation information. This dump and burn means, that fuel is deliberately released (to reduce weight before landing...), and instead of having it evaporate, it is ignited and burned?
Why the burning? Just for show?? Just dumping would be less conspicuous and probably safer.

That's amazing! Is the colour of the trails on the wings from the sunset or from the reflection of the burn?

Yes, it is all for show found completely by accident. I was told when dumping the fuel the after burners ignited it causing the hugh flame. It is now a crowd pleaser.
I was in Singapore for the Asain aerospace air show a few years ago and when they dumped the fuel you should have heard the crowd. wow. It is pretty cool when they pass over your head at about 500 ft.

Good. And yours? Getting some page views and comments?

I've just been adjusting some images to include them as wrapped canvases etc. As they wrap around the edge, I'm putting a matte colour around them.

I bought one of yours - the Frangipani. 12x18 with Jet frame. Let me know how much you make on it, and I will let you know how it looks and how long it takes to get here (sent fromt he US).

Thanks babe, once I start getting paid I will buy a few things. Please take a pic of the final frangipani canvas for me when you get it. Would love to see it, let me know how the colours, etc come out.
Thanks again

Actually I bought a print of it, with a black frame (from the Fine Art Print section), as I can't afford a canvas at the moment. But I will, as I think those flowers of yours would look awesome on canvas.

I will let you know how the print looks though, and send a pic. I have ordered some prints of my own, as I am not happy with the printing here on the Island, and want to see how they look. I'll let you know how they turn out too. Huge price difference: on here a 12 x 18 is $9 artist discount and in Kingscote it is $24, and he prints on Epson printer paper, not photo paper! Rip off!

Hi Thanks for the explanation, I first thought this machine was going to explode like the Concord or so. Must be a crowed pleaser.

Some time ago, in the days of the cold war I nearly fell of my bike when a F15 was passing over me around 50-100m, practicing a little bit of low level flight.

After several crashes into cities and lost weapons the training scheme over Germany was, shall we say, revised!

I used to be in a Anti Aircraft Tank unit, incidentally, Gepard Tank, quite efficient for a gun based system... Anyway, history, 20 years back! (Damn I get old) Fabian
